Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone moved from Michigan to New York in 1977 with dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. Madonna studied dance with a choreographer, did some modeling and ended up in a couple of pop/dance groups before signing with Sire Records in 1982. Madonna's first album, Madonna, came out in 1983 and since then she's had a string of hits, been a major influence in the music industry and become an international icon.
